EXISTING CONDITIONS

The Southbridge Fire Station does not meet the needs of a 21st century fire department. The station was constructed in 1899 for a volunteer department utilizing horse-drawn equipment. Today, the Southbridge Fire Department is comprised of 31 career firefighters and 6 call firefighters who responded to nearly 4000 calls in 2022. Trucks and equipment barely fit through the doors, decontamination of trucks and gear is done outdoors, and the building does not meet many local, state and federal codes including ADA accessibility.

For more details on the existing conditions of the station, please scroll through the photo gallery below. If you would like to tour the station, please contact Chief Paul Normandin at (508) 764-5430.
