SOUTHBRIDGE FIRE STATION

BUILDING PROJECT

PROJECT UPDATE

March 25, 2026

Weather certainly stopped cooperating in January. The masonry block construction continues, now on the training tower. Brick has been added to many exterior areas as the weather seems to be with us again. Most above ceiling mechanicals, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection are now in place in the administration areas of the facility. The roof membrane has been added to the apparatus bays rough work has shifted to those areas.

ABOUT

The Southbridge Fire Station is more than 125 years old and does not efficiently support the operations of a 21st century fire department. The purpose of this web site is to provide information to the Southbridge community on the facility study process to address the needs of the fire station.

EXISTING

Trucks and equipment barely fit through the doors, decontamination of trucks and gear is done outdoors, and the building does not meet many local, state and federal codes including ADA accessibility. These are just a few of the inefficiencies of the existing Southbridge Fire Station.

PLANS

Plans and Renderings for a Worcester Street location have been developed and are available for viewing.
